A little bit of spice makes everything nice! Cream Creole Pasta brings that Cajun, Louisianna-flare mixed with a creamy, cheesy sauce to cool it off just right. Tossed with some hearty sausage slices, plump shrimp, juicy veggies, and perfectly al dente fettuccine, this dish is nicer than nice! Cream Creole Pasta brings the pizzaz to your pasta night!
Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) box fettuccine
- 8 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 pound medium or large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 4 green onions, sliced
- 1/4 cup yellow bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 (12-ounce) package andouille sausage, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup tomato, diced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/3 cup parmesan, grated
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the fettuccine to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the water.
Step 2 -In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter.
Step 3 -Sprinkle the shrimp evenly with the Cajun seasoning and the paprika.
Step 4 -Add the seasoned shrimp to the melted butter and cook until they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F and turn pink.
Step 5 -Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked shrimp to a plate and keep them warm.
Step 6 -In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter.
Step 7 -Add the green onions, the yellow bell peppers, the green bell peppers, the mushrooms, and the sausage slices and cook until the sausage slices are browned and the veggies are soft.
Step 8 -Stir the garlic and the tomato into the sausage mixture and cook, about 1 minute.
Step 9 -Stir the heavy cream into the sausage mixture and simmer until it has slightly thickened.
Step 10 -Add the lemon juice, the parmesan, and the parsley to the sausage mixture and stir to melt the parmesan.
Step 11 -Taste the sausage mixture and season with the salt and the pepper, as needed.
Step 12 -Transfer the skillet from the heat and add the cooked fettuccine and the cooked shrimp. Stir to combine.
Step 13 -Serve.
