When you really need to impress at sunrise, this Classy Breakfast Bake is the way to go! Once you're dressed to the nines and have your hair done-up all nice, serve this warm bake, loaded with hearty turkey sausage, fluffy eggs, fresh spinach, melty cheese, and crunchy bread cubes, and you're sure to regale each and every one of your guests. Make sure to serve this Classy Breakfast Bake on your finest China and your breakfast party will certainly be the talk of the town for a long time coming!
Ingredients
- 8 ounces spicy or sweet turkey sausage links, casings removed
- 2 scallions, sliced
- 6 large eggs, plus 6 large egg whites
- 1 3/4 cups 1% milk
- kosher salt, to taste
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 (9-ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained of excess liquid
- 3/4 cup cheddar, shredded
- 1/2 cup parmesan, grated
- 1/2 whole-wheat baguette, cut into 3/4-inch-thick cubes
Directions
Step 1 -Coat a 3-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.
Step 2 -In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, add the sausage and the scallions and cook, while crumbling the meat, until the sausage is no longer pink, about 10 minutes.
Step 3 -Transfer the skillet from the heat and let the sausage mixture cool slightly.
Step 4 -In a large bowl, add the eggs, the egg whites, the milk, the salt, and the pepper and whisk until it is combined.
Step 5 -Add the cooked sausage, the spinach, the cheddar cheese, the parmesan, and the bread cubes to the egg mixture and toss to evenly distribute the ingredients.
Step 6 -Evenly spread the egg mixture into the prepared baking dish and cover it.
Step 7 -Refrigerate the egg bake for at least 6 hours and up to overnight.
Step 8 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 9 -Uncover the baking dish and bake the egg bake until it is slightly set and lightly browned on top, about 30 minutes.
Step 10 -Serve.
