Sometimes names can be deceiving. Like "dump" in the name Cherry Dump Cake Bake, for instance. It may not be appealing at first read, but we're certain you're going to love this glorious baking process! A layer of crescent roll dough is topped with a delicious cream cheese mixture, some cheery cherry pie filling, and a dusting of a yellow cake mix — all for a surprising dump of deliciousness! When time is short, but the sweet cravings run high, Cherry Dump Cake Bake is an outstanding choice! Don't let looks (or names) be deceiving!
Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
- 2 (8-ounce) blocks cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
- 1 (12-ounce) can cherry pie filling
- 1 (18.5-ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch-thick pieces
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 3 -Unroll the crescent roll dough then press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish in a single layer, pinching the seams together to form a crust.
Step 4 -In a large bowl, add the cream cheese, the granulated sugar, and the vanilla extract and beat with an electric hand mixer on medium speed to combine.
Step 5 -Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent roll dough.
Step 6 -Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon over the cream cheese mixture layer.
Step 7 -Evenly spread the cherry pie filling over the brown-sugar-cinnamon layer.
Step 8 -Evenly sprinkle the yellow cake mix over the cherry pie filling layer.
Step 9 -Arrange the butter slices over the cake mix and evenly sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon.
Step 10 -Wrap a large piece of foil under the bottom and partially up the sides of the baking dish to prevent the cake from burning.
Step 11 -Bake the cake until it is cooked through, about 1 hour.
Step 12 -Transfer the baking dish to a wire rack and let the cake cool, about 15 minutes.
Step 13 -Slice and serve.
