Hot potato, hot potato! Totdish gives that fun childhood game a fresh, tasty, new meaning. Tender, flakey tater tots dominate this dish to create the most satisfying entryway into a hearty filling. Within you find a creamy, meaty, veggie-filled goodness that is the perfect companion to the beloved spuds. It's pretty easy to whip up, too, which gives this bake some bonus points. We're not playin' around, Totdish is a delicious winner for your weeknight dinner!
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 cup yellow onion, diced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 (0.88-ounce) packet brown gravy mix
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (15-ounce) can mixed vegetables, drained
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 (28-ounce) package frozen tater tots
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 -In a large sauté pan over medium heat, cook the ground beef and the onion, while crumbling, until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
Step 4 -Add the water and the gravy mix to the beef mixture and stir until the meat is coated in gravy.
Step 5 -Reduce the heat to low.
Step 6 -Add the cream of mushroom soup, the sour cream, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the salt, and the pepper to the ground beef mixture, stirring until the ingredients are fully combined.
Step 7 -Add the mixed vegetables to the ground beef mixture and stir well.
Step 8 -Add 1 cup of the cheese to the veggie and beef mixture and stir.
Step 9 -Evenly spread the veggie and beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Step 10 -Top the beef mixture with the tater tots.
Step 11 -Sprinkle the tater tots with the remaining cheese.
Step 12 -Bake until the veggie and beef mixture is heated through and the tater tots are golden brown, about 30-35 minutes.
Step 13 -Serve.
