The switch in the Switch-Up Spaghetti Bake is in the sauce: instead of marinara, it calls for a creamy, rich Alfredo sauce. That'll shake up the formula! Don't worry tomato lovers, there's plenty of the bright scarlet fruit to satisfy your cravings as well! Can't forget about the tender pasta, the savory chicken, or the many melty cheeses mixed in and on top! Switch-Up Spaghetti Bake will make you want to switch your routines and your menus!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2/3 cup onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15-ounce) jar Alfredo sauce
- 1 (8-ounce) package processed cheese product, such as Velveeta®, cubed
- 2 (15.5-ounce) cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 (16-ounce) package spaghetti, cooked according to the package directions
- 3 cups chicken, cooked and shredded
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped, plus more, to taste, for garnish
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Spray a 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray.
Step 3 -In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
Step 4 -Add the onion and the garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until the onion is tender, about 7 minutes.
Step 5 -Stir in the Alfredo sauce and the processed cheese product until melted and smooth.
Step 6 -Stir in the fire-roasted tomatoes, the cooked spaghetti, the shredded chicken, 1/2 cup of the green onions, and the Italian seasoning until well-combined.
Step 7 -Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan.
Step 8 -Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top of the bake.
Step 9 -Bake until hot and bubbly, about 20-30 minutes.
Step 10 -Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes.
Step 11 -Garnish with the extra green onions and serve.
