Can a pizza be a refreshing meal? Well, yes! That's what Summer Lovin' Pizza aims to prove! This juicy and tangy barbecue beef pizza is topped with a fresh and vibrant salad with a simple olive oil dressing! So, each slice is filling and satisfying as only pizza can be, but also nourishing and, yes, refreshing! Summer Lovin' Pizza is something you're just going to love!
Ingredients
- For the pizza:
- cornmeal, for dusting a baking sheet
- all-purpose flour, for dusting a work surface
- 1 (16-ounce) package refrigerated pizza dough, room temperature
- 8 ounces lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup extra-sharp cheddar, coarsely grated
- For the salad:
- 1 head butter lettuce, torn
- 1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, quartered
- 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- kosher salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2 -Dust a baking sheet with the cornmeal.
Step 3 -Lightly dust a work surface with the flour.
Step 4 -Add the pizza dough to the prepared work surface and shape it into a 14-16-inch oval.
Step 5 -Transfer the pizza dough oval to the prepared baking sheet.
Step 6 -In a large skillet over medium heat, add the beef and cook, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 7 -Transfer the beef from the heat.
Step 8 -Add the barbecue sauce to the beef and stir to combine.
Step 9 -Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the pizza dough.
Step 10 -Sprinkle the beef mixture with the cheddar cheese.
Step 11 -Bake the pizza until the crust is golden-brown and crisp, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 12 -In a large bowl, add the lettuce, the tomatoes, the onions, the oil, the salt, and the pepper and toss to combine.
Step 13 -Top the pizza with the salad mixture.
Step 14 -Serve immediately.
