Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 1 wedge lime, plus more, to taste, for garnish
  • ice cubes, to taste
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice, chilled
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup, homemade or store-bought
  • pomegranate arils, optional, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 -On a small, shallow plate, add the lime zest and the coarse salt and stir to combine.

Step 2 -Run 1 of the lime wedge around the rims of the intended serving glasses.

Step 3 -Dip the lime-coated rims of the serving glasses in the lime zest mixture, twisting the glasses slightly so the rims are completely coated.

Step 4 -Fill the rimmed serving glasses with the ice cubes.

Step 5 -In a pitcher, add the tequila, the pomegranate juice, the lime juice, the orange liqueur, and the simple syrup and stir to combine.

Step 6 -Fill each of the prepared serving glasses evenly with the margarita mixture.

Step 7 -Serve garnished with the arils and the extra lime wedges.
